Business of Design Week 2024

Themed “Inter/Section: Design, Artistry and Innovation”, the Business of Design Week (BODW) held its annual 3-day summit from 4 to 6 December 2024 with more than 15,000 audiences in attendance, showcasing the intersectional power of design thinking, artistry and innovations in transforming businesses and proactively shaping a more sustainable future for all.

France returns as the partner country for BODW for the second time, marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France. The conference showcased 17 French speakers sharing insightful learnings derived from their work at luxury house Hermès to the 2024 Olympics and many more.

The 3-day summit featured over 50 renowned local and international designers and entrepreneurs speaking on the topics of Urban Futures, Brands & Retail Resurgence, Craftsmanship & Material Mastery, Culture & Digital Aesthetics, and AI & Future Tech in over 40 face-to-face panels, keynote speeches and fireside chats. This gathering of minds jointly showcased the power of design, artistry and innovation in tackling the increasingly complex challenges faced around the world.

This year, Occasions gladly serves as the strategic PR partner for Hong Kong Design Centre. Having supported previous BODW editions, including France’s inaugural partnership in 2009, this year’s collaboration is especially meaningful to us.

Throughout the year, we facilitated various pivotal events: Knowledge of Design Week in June, BODW’s press conference and summit, the grand opening of HKDC‘s new landmark, and DX Design Hub in Sham Shui Po. Additionally, we are honored to be a patron of the BODW gala dinner.

Occasions’ Founding Chairman Pansy Ho gave a speech on “Innovating Culture and Heritage to Build a Sustainable Global Community” as the Vice President of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and Vice President of China Foundation for Cultural Heritage Conservation (Hong Kong & Macau) in the BODW 2024 Summit .

In honouring France as partner country of BODW during the timely celebration of the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations this year, she passionately discussed her initiatives in preserving Chinese intangible cultural heritage and various projects she spearheaded between esteemed institutions from the two countries including Dunhuang Academy, Palace Museum, the Louvre, the Palace of Versailles, and Musée Guimet. She also highlighted her recent efforts in promoting the Guizhou Miao embroidery to the world on global platforms like the Cannes Festival.

“Through the lens of understanding our past at the height of design and artistry, it gives us insight on how the human civilization has evolved, how the modernization of societies actually brought upon new lifestyles, and how these can all come together in bringing innovation and inspirations for designs into the modern world.”
